To whom it may concern: I am 31 years old and a former veteran. I served in the military from 1996-2001. I was young and dumb and made a few mistakes along the way. I have filed for bankruptcy in the past and it is just now behind me. However I have had a very hard time getting to where I am now. My wife and I try and make good sound decisions that always turn around for the worse no matter how much planning goes in to it. We have both given up our sports cars to help raise a great child. We have moved trying to get to a job where I could be a bigger part of my family’s life only to have me working more hours and be in the hole further than when we moved here. I have spent the last 7 years working 60 plus hours a week. I have been educating myself to better provide for my family and in doing so have gotten a better job. I am now a store manager of a specialty shoe store in a good city and make ok money still below middle class but I am working on it. My wife and I have gone through some really hard times. We are now down to one vehicle and it is running bad. We used all our money and then some to move here, including our income taxes (rapid refund through H&R Block) plus a small loan from my mother (5,000). All in all we have gone through 12,000. In just over a month our rent is higher than it was, power bill higher, insurance although we have been great drivers over the last 8 years has also gone up. No tickets no accidents anything, just because of the area. Now we can’t fix our one vehicle and we were told by more than one mechanic that it was not worth it because more than likely it would keep breaking down on us. So we thought about buying another newer one. In the process of trying to buy another one our last one broke down costing us what little we had left to use for a down payment. Plus it still needs some other repairs. Now I have a good job, it could be better but it is nothing to laugh at. However it is not enough to get us through this. We are good people, an example of the things we do. We kept spare change in our car a small bag that I just stuck extra coins in it must have had 20 or so dollars in it. We gave it to a homeless man on the side of the road here in our new town, 2 days later the transmission went in that car. Still we do things like this all the time trying to help those who are less fortunate than us. It might not be much but we figure it’s the least we could do for someone who obviously has it worse than us. We never think of what we might get in return we just see a chance to maybe help someone. Now we are wondering what kind of luck we would have if we did not do those kinds of things. Our motto to get us through the day is “It could be worse”. Ok so the short of it is I was approved for a car loan but it is at ones of those dealerships that you pay an arm and a leg for something not worth it. I am not trying to buy a brand new one but I don’t want something that is going to need a ton of work in a year or so. Plus I owe my mother 5,000 plus dollars and now because of our situation have no way of paying her back. I am in school on line trying to get a degree so those bills are counting against us as well. Credit is impossible. I really need some money to get through all this. Anything would be great. All in all I could survive with about 5,000. That would fix our current vehicle plus pay 1,000 towards my mother. At this point I would just be happy to see that I get back the money I am spending on this site. I am at my wits end here. I figured 70.00 here and hoping for the best was better than paying an arm and a leg for a car I don’t want and then getting nowhere anyway. If you have a few dollars to spare then thanks and thanks again. If you are able to afford more without putting you or your family in danger then thanks even more. If you simply can’t then, just simply thanks for taking the time to read a bit about me.
